Using an iPad to access the e-space provides the opportunity for learners to work independently, collaboratively and cooperatively. It allows work to be completed by the students and viewed by the teacher while at school or at home. It is therefore necessary to develop appropriate communication and collaboration skills while using the device. While utilising an e-space teachers must provide and demonstrate examples and knowledge of accountability, adaptability and digital footprints.
In turn as parents it is important to be technically savvy and have knowledge of the ways students learn in the e-space. Students must be allowed to digitally grow by deepening their understanding by communicating with the community and other schools. Teachers as well as parents must provide a safe environment that promotes the ethical and legal use of technology.
A combined home and school approach to the advantages of e-learning must be established incorporating teachers, community leaders, refugee support staff, parents and carers. This can be implemented by supporting new ideas, changing technology, providing adequate resources and ongoing professional development. |
