MissionMany refugees from around the world have been displaced due to civil war and have left behind a life already immersed in technology. As many are led to believe all refugees have not come from poverty stricken areas with no education in the use of technology. Prior to being forced to flee their cities many of our youth were well aware of the use of technological platforms and social media. Our mission is to provide a platform whereby students returning to an educational environment, albeit a refugee camp, can interact with their parents or guardians at home via an online parent resource providing a richer and more fulfilling educational experience for both.

Vision
Our vision is to provide online resources for all refugee parents, whether they have been left behind in the use of technology and it’s advances or are true digital natives like their children. It would provide a opportunity whereby parents can access information on the use of various devices, software, and applications presented in schools across all refugee camps and their education initiatives. This information will then allow parents to work with the children from their perspective and further advance both the students and the parent’s education. The resource would include activities for parents to complete at home with their children and share throughout the world providing the chance to receive comment and further analysis.
THE eSPACE
Though computers have been used in education for a long time now, the term electronic learning space is relatively new. The space is boundless and is closely linked to the use of technology in schools. The electronic learning space allows students to connect and collaborate with a range of resources and students their own age from across the globe.
With this level of connectedness students and teachers are able to gain information and resources on any topic at anytime. It is important, though, for teachers to be aware that with a new electronic learning space there also needs to be new learning goals, pedagogies and working spaces created to enable the use of technology to become more effective and efficient.
The Liminal Learning Space
The liminal space can be defined as a space of transition where uncertainty exists about a task at hand. Once a task is understood and results achieved the liminal threshold has been crossed and learning is developed. The word liminal comes from the Latin word limen, meaning threshold – any point or place of entering or beginning. A liminal space is the time between the ‘what was’ and the ‘next.’ It is a place of transition, waiting, and not knowing (inaliminalspace.org).
